Live at the Carousel Ballroom 1968 is a live album by Big Brother and the Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin. The album was recorded by Owsley Stanley in 1968, and released on 12 March 2012 through Columbia and Legacy, on the one-year anniversary of his death in an automobile accident.
These live performances were captured at the height of the band's power, in September 1967 at the Whisky A Go-Go, Los Angeles and May 1968 at the Carousel Ballroom, San Francisco. They burned brightly for two years and then egos ripped the group apart. The Whisky performance was just one week after they opened for Cream at the Fillmore West.
