Lewis Allan (Lou) Reed ( New York, 2 maart 1942 – Southampton ( New York ), 27 oktober 2013 [1]) was een Amerikaans musicus en zanger. Hij was samen met John Cale het gezicht van de invloedrijke band The Velvet Underground. Als gitarist was hij ook erg invloedrijk; hij maakte veel gebruik van distortion en alternatieve stemmingen.
Reed je od 1965. do 1970. godine bio frontmen grupe The Velvet Underground. Iako sastav nije postigao komercijalan uspjeh, s vremenom je postao jedna od nautjecajnijih grupa 20. stoljeća . Od 1972. godine Reed je imao uspješnu samostalnu karijeru s hitovima poput "Walk on the Wild Side", "Perfect Day" te "Satellite of Love", a do 2007. godine izdao je 20 solo studijskih albuma.
