Louis-Alexandre Berthier, prince de Wagram (born Nov. 20, 1753, Versailles, Fr.—died June 1, 1815, Bamberg, Bavaria) French soldier and the first of Napoleon’s marshals. Though Berthier was not a distinguished commander, Napoleon esteemed him highly as chief of staff of the Grande Armée from 1805.

Louis-Alexandre Berthier, prince de Neuchâtel et Valangin, prince de Wagram, né le 20 novembre 1753 à Versailles et mort le 1er juin 1815 à Bamberg, est un général français puis maréchal d’Empire . Né de parents tous deux au service du roi, il devient ingénieur-géographe comme son père et participe à la guerre d'indépendance américaine.
