LOS ANGELES TREES (2001-2012): In Los Angeles there are trees from every continent of the world, and in them I discovered a subject for a kind of portraiture. The insistent dedication of nature is to grow in spite of restrictions, and idiosyncratic forms often result from this. My work is not about trees per se.
Lucas Reiner has been exhibiting internationally since 1993. Over the past three decades he produced several notable series of chromatically variegated paintings reflecting his perennial inspirations (contemporary urban trees, pyrotechnic explosions, traditional spiritual themes) in a range of media (including oil, acrylic, tempera, watercolor, drypoint etching, monoprints, and photography).
Lucas Reiner was born in 1960 in Los Angeles, California, and currently lives and works in Los Angeles and Berlin. Widely exhibited in the United States as well as internationally, his work is represented in private and public collections, including Colección Jumex, Mexico City, Diözesanmuseum, Freising, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München, among others.
American artist Lucas Reiner visited Riga, Latvia from March 27th through April 1, 2010 during which time her met with member of the artistic community and gave a public lecture at the Art Academy of Latvia. Lucas Reiner was born in Los Angeles, California in 1960. He attended the Parsons School of Design and New School for Social Research in New York, the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, and the Parsons School of Design and American College in Paris.
“For Lucas Reiner, it was admiring the majestic trees flanking Ferraro, Italy’s San Benedetto church, his mind and eyes fresh from the glow of an exhibition of Chardin paintings, and noticing their domed coiffures and cathedral-like rise of archways and lofty, filtered light. He photographed them and made a suite of 67 monoprints about them.
