  5. Lucy Madox Brown was the daughter of Ford Madox Brown and William Michael Rossetti was the brother of Dante Gabriel Rossetti. All of the drawings except lot 30, which is framed, were previously housed in one folio. Ford Madox Hueffer notes that in 1861, Brown had completed two large works, and that "Besides these, there was the usual amount of retouchings before sales, and one duplicate, the head of the artist's daughter Lucy, the original of which was painted in Paris, circa 1844.

  7. 24 de sept. de 2021 · Lucy’s mother, Elizabeth, was Brown’s first wife, who died in 1846 when Lucy was three years old. In her teens she was educated by the mother and sister of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and at the age of 30 she married his brother William. Catherine was born in 1850 to Brown’s model Emma Hill, whom he married in 1853.
