Hace 1 día · Mountbatten, then named Prince Louis of Battenberg, was born on 25 June 1900 at Frogmore House in the Home Park, Windsor, Berkshire. He was the youngest child and the second son of Prince Louis of Battenberg and his wife Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine.
The first Duke of Northumberland was born at Merton College, Oxford. In 1682, he was employed on secret service in Venice. Upon his return to England in 1684, he was elected (10 January) and installed (8 April) Knight of the Garter. That summer, he served as a volunteer on the side of the French at the Siege of Luxembourg.
Hace 6 días · A royal residence. Only in 1792 it became a country retreat for Queen Charlotte and her unmarried daughters. Charlotte had architect James Wyatt enlarge and modernise the house. In 1818 it became the residence of Princess Augusta, and as off 1840 of the Duchess of Kent, the mother of Queen Victoria, who died here in 1861.
10 de abr. de 2024 · In 1792 it was at Frogmore House at Windsor where the Queen and her daughters liked to ‘botanise’ and that artist Mary Moser was commissioned by Queen Charlotte to paint the ceilings and walls using the Queen’s living collections as inspiration, along with designing the embroidery for the Queen’s new bed at Windsor.

Hace 6 días · Head to the 17th century, Grade I listed Frogmore House, which isn’t open to visitors, but you can of course see it from the outside. This has housed Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie, plus many other royals historically.
