Gabriel de Rochechouart, 1st Duke of Mortemart (1600 – 26 December 1675) was a French nobleman and father of the Marquise de Montespan. He was a friend of the French King Louis XIII . Biography[edit] Gabriel de Rochechouart was the son of Gaspard de Rochechouart, Marquis of Mortemart, and of Louise de Maure, suo jure Countess of Maure.

Gabriel de Rochechouart de Mortemart (1600-1675), fut premier gentilhomme de la Chambre de Louis XIII et gouverneur de Paris. Il était issu d’une branche cadette de la Maison de Rochechouart.
A childhood friend of Louis XIII, Gabriel de Rochechouart de Mortemart (1600–1675) accompanied the king on several expeditions. He was made first gentleman of the royal bedchamber (premier gentilhomme de la chambre du roi) in 1630.
