Lasham is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is 3.4 miles (5.5 km) northwest of Alton and 1.2 miles (1.9 km) north of Bentworth, just off the A339 road. The parish covers an area of 1,797 acres (727 ha) and has an average elevation of 560 feet (170 m) above sea level.

The village and airfield are now usually known as “Lash-am” but until recent times most locals called it “Lass-ham”. The village dates back to the eleventh century when it was “Esseham”, becoming “Lessham” shortly after. The airfield was built by Irish labourers and Italian prisoners of war.

The Gliding Heritage Centre (GHC) is a collection of vintage gliders based at Lasham Airfield, Hampshire, UK. [1] [2] [3] Origins. Christopher Wills, the son of Philip Wills, founded the Vintage Glider Club in 1973. He died on 4 May 2011 but left a bequest of £100,000 to build a hangar to house vintage gliders plus his Steinadler.
