Château-Thierry is the birthplace of Jean de La Fontaine and was the location of the First Battle of the Marne and Second Battle of the Marne. The arrondissement of Château-Thierry is called the country of Omois. Château-Thierry is one of 64 French towns to have received the Legion of Honour.
Château-Thierry est une commune française située dans le département de l'Aisne, en région Hauts-de-France. Le gentilé historiquement juste est Castrothéodoricien, qui provient de la forme latine castrum theodorici , mais l'usage a popularisé l'utilisation de Castelthéodoricien.
Le château de Château-Thierry est un ancien château fort, fondé au IXe siècle 3 par les comtes de Vermandois et remanié aux XIIe et au XIIIe siècle 3 par les comtes de Champagne, puis par Philippe le Bel au XIVe siècle et enfin par Antoine de Bourgogne à la fin du XVe et au début du XVIe siècle.

The Battle of Château-Thierry was fought on July 18, 1918 and was one of the first actions of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) under General John J. Pershing. It was a battle in World War I as part of the Second Battle of the Marne, initially prompted by a German Spring Offensive.
