Ernesto de Brunswick-Luneburgo (en alemán: Ernst der Bekenner; 27 de junio de 1497 - 11 de enero de 1546), también llamado frecuentemente Ernesto el Confesor, fue duque de Brunswick-Luneburgo y uno de los principales defensores de la causa protestante durante los primeros años de la Reforma protestante.

In 1692, Duke Ernest Augustus from the Calenberg Line, acquired the right to be a prince-elector as the Prince-Elector of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Colloquially, the Electorate was also known as the Electorate of Hanover or as Kurhannover. In 1814, it was succeeded by the Kingdom of Hanover .
