26 de abr. de 2021 · One of the city’s most architecturally attractive high schools, Motown’s Cooley was built in 1928 by the Detroit firm of Donaldson and Meier, responsible for such landmarks as The David Stott Building, St. Aloysius and Most Holy Redeemer churches, and the first section of the Penobscot Building.
Cooley High School, designed by Donaldson & Meier and opened in 1928, was named after former Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas M. Cooley. It was constructed at a cost of $758,270, the equivalent in purchasing power to about $13,900,000 in 2024, to meet the educational needs of a rapidly growing area of Detroit.
