Gerberga of Saxony (c. 913 – 5 May 968/9 or 984?) was a Queen of France by marriage to Louis IV of France between 939 and 954. She ruled as regent of France during the minority of her son Lothair in 954–959. She was a member of the Ottonian dynasty. Her first husband was Gilbert, Duke of Lorraine.

Life and Issue. Gerberga was born in Arles. She was the daughter of King Conrad of Burgundy and his second wife, Matilda, daughter of Louis IV of France and Gerberga of Saxony. [1] Her paternal aunt was Empress Adelaide. Through her mother, she was related to Louis IV of France, Emperor Otto I and Charlemagne. [2]

Gerberga's first husband was King Adalbert of Italy. They engaged around 956, and later had one child, Otto-William. After Adalbert's death in 971/5, Gerberga married for a second time, to Henry I, Duke of Burgundy, the younger brother of King Hugh Capet. Gerberga and Henry had no children together.
Gerberga was a Saxon princess, the daughter of Henry the Fowler of Germany and Matilda of Saxony . At age 19, she married Duke Giselbert of Lotharingia, but was widowed only two years later. She then married Louis IV of France as part of an alliance between the French monarch and her father.
