  2. Hace 6 días · The Tudors were ancestors and namesake to the former English Royal House of Tudor, they were descended from the Welshman Maredudd ap Tudur, Ednyfed Fychan being his famous ancestor, his family were seneschals to the Kings of Gwynedd.

Henry took the throne of England in 1485, at the end of the Wars of the Roses , when his forces defeated those of Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field .

He was born around 1065 and was little heard of until his brothers Cadwgan and Iorweth, both powerful rulers, were murdered. Maredudd was not chosen as the next king of Powys but rather Cadwgan’s son Owain.

The eldest, Madog, was destined to play a major role in the Welsh wars of Edward I. As I have described, their father was slain in a battle in the valley of the Clun in April 1263.

He was also lord of Meirionydd in North Wales, and in 1241 swore homage for his land to Henry III. This was insurance, to protect Meirionydd from Gwynedd.
