views 3,632,220 updated. Pole, John de la, 2nd duke of Suffolk (1442–92). Pole was originally married to his father's ward Margaret Beaufort, daughter and heir of John, duke of Somerset (d. 1444). The marriage was annulled and he married Richard of York's daughter Elizabeth.
John de la Pole, 1st Earl of Lincoln (1462/4–1487), eldest son of the 2nd Duke, predeceased his father without surviving issue. Edmund de la Pole, 3rd Duke of Suffolk (1472–1513), younger son of the 2nd Duke, was allowed to succeed as Duke in 1492, but had to surrender that title in 1493.

JOHN DE LA POLE, second Duke of Suffolk (1442-1491), born on 27 Sept. 1442, was only son of William de la Pole, first duke of Suffolk (d. 1450). On 27 Nov. 1440 he was made joint constable of Wallingford and high steward of the honour of St. Valery, offices to which he was reappointed in 1461.
