Penelope Rich, Lady Rich, later styled Penelope Blount (née Devereux; January 1563 – 7 July 1607) was an English court office holder. She served as lady-in-waiting to the English queen Anne of Denmark .

10 de jun. de 2015 · Penelope Devereux, Lady Rich c. 1563-1607. Penelope Devereux was a star of the late Elizabethan and early Stuart courts. A renowned beauty, she was the muse of Sir Philip Sidney, and is immortalised in the sonnet cycle Astrophel and Stella.
He married twice: His first marriage was on 10 January 1581 to Lady Penelope Devereux (January 1563 – 7 July 1607), a daughter of Walter Devereux, 1st Earl of Essex. In 1605, Lord Rich was granted a divorce from his wife, who admitted adultery with Charles Blount, 8th Baron Mountjoy .
Described by James I as ‘a fair woman with a black soul’, Lady Penelope Devereux was a prominent figure in the courts of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I. A famous beauty with golden hair and dark eyes, she was well educated, an excellent dancer and fluent in Italian, French and Spanish.
Some have suggested that the love represented in the sequence may be a literal one as Sidney evidently connects Astrophil to himself and Stella to Lady Penelope, thought to be Penelope Devereux (1563–1607), later Lady Rich, the wife of Robert Rich, 3rd Baronet.
