17 de mar. de 2024 · Janis and Maria Cooper married in 1966. An earlier marriage, to June Dickson Wright, ended in divorce. Mr. Janis had one son, from his first marriage, Stefan, who died in 2017.
Maria Cooper Janis was born in Los Angeles, California and lived there with her parents, the actor Gary Cooper and his wife Veronica Cooper. She followed a painting career in New York and in 1966 married the world renowned concert pianist, Byron Janis.
He has been acclaimed as one of the world’s greatest pianists. In 2010, he and his wife Maria Cooper Janis (daughter of the late multiple Academy Award winning actor Gary Cooper) wrote his autobiography “Chopin and Beyond: My Extraordinary Life in Music and the Paranormal.”
