Mariane Bargiel (née Tromlitz, formerly Wieck; 17 May 1797 – 10 March 1872) was a German pianist, soprano and piano teacher. She was the mother of Clara Schumann .

Mariane Wieck-Bargiel, née Tromlitz (1797–1872), mother of Clara Schumann. Mariane Tromlitz was the granddaughter of the famous flute virtuoso Johann Georg Tromlitz and a daughter of the Plauen Cantor Georg Christian Gotthold Tromlitz. Mariane was first a pupil of Friedrich Wieck, before she married him in 1816 at the age of nineteen.

Clara's mother, Mariane Bargiel, was also a pianist and soprano, a regular performer at the prestigious Gewandhaus Leipzig—which is where the 9-year-old Clara first performed for an audience!
