Biography. Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun was one of the foremost portraitists in Europe at the end of the eighteenth century and during the first three decades of the nineteenth. She belonged to the long succession of European courtier-artists that began with Anthony Van Dyck (1599-1641) and closed with John Singer Sargent (1856-1925).
17 de mar. de 2016 · Élisabeth Louise Vigée-LeBrun, however, achieved success and inspired future generations of artists. Renowned during her lifetime, Vigée-LeBrun (1755–1842) served as the preferred portraitist to Queen Marie Antoinette in the late 1770s.
