21 de may. de 2023 · Her name was Mary Eunice Harlan. She was the daughter of Iowa’s U.S. Sen. James Harlan and his wife, Ann Harlan. The senator was a close friend and political ally of President Abraham Lincoln.
When their great-grandchildren died, both the Lincoln and Harlan families lost any known direct descendants, although other descendants remain. Mary Eunice Harlan and Robert Todd Lincoln had three children: Mary (1869-1938), Abraham II or "Jack" (1873-1890) and Jessie (1875-1948).
Mary Eunice Harlan (1846-1937) was the firstborn child of James Harlan and Ann Eliza Peck Harlan of Iowa City, Iowa. Her father was an educator, surveyor and lawyer and joined the Republican Party in 1854.
