Mary Hervey, Lady Hervey ( née Lepell; c.1700 – 2 September 1768) was an English courtier . Family and early life. Born around 1700, Mary Lepell was the daughter of Brigadier-general Nicholas Wedig Lepell and his wife, Mary Brooke, daughter and co-heiress of John Brooke of Rendlesham, Suffolk.
An alabaster tomb for Lady Mary Hervey, governess to Henry IV's infants. Lady Mary Hervey’s early life is obscure. We know she served as lady-in-waiting to Queen Phillipa, consort of King Edward III, where she met her husband William Hervey and the Queen arranged their marriage in the 1360s.
Lady Mary Hervey (c. 1720–), married 31 October 1745 George FitzGerald of Turlough, County Mayo and had issue, including the notoriously eccentric landowner and duellist George Robert FitzGerald ("Fighting FitzGerald"), hanged for conspiracy to murder in 1786.
A monument to the left of the altar is almost certainly the tomb of Lady Mary Hervey, who was governess to the children of Henry IV. Mary was a generous patron of the hospital – her name can be found on the first benefactors’ board.
