She was a wise, dynamic woman, Irish born, who professed as a Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Beziers. She was an educator in Portugal for almost 25 years before coming to the United States in 1903 and founding Marymount in 1907.

She spent many years in these fiber arts centers, weaving and helping others to learn and enjoy the art of weaving. For much of her religious life, Sister Mary lived in Tarrytown and ministered in Westchester and Orange Counties.
