Richard II (died 28 August 1026), called the Good (French: Le Bon ), was the duke of Normandy from 996 until 1026. Life [ edit] Richard was the eldest surviving son and heir of Richard the Fearless and Gunnor. [1] . He succeeded his father as the ruler of Normandy in 996. [1] .

Robert was the son of Richard II of Normandy and Judith, daughter of Conan I, Duke of Brittany. He was also grandson of Richard I of Normandy, great-grandson of William I of Normandy and great-great grandson of Rollo, the Viking who founded Normandy.
