15 de jun. de 2017 · Trombonist, composer, installation artist, computer music pioneer and scholar George Lewis joined the AACM at the age of 19 in 1971, and the Cal Performances presentation of his Afterword, an opera on Friday at Zellerbach Playhouse as part of Ojai at Berkeley festival feels particularly timely.
18 de sept. de 2023 · Two of the album's songs come from Spirit Complex - a more abstract sounding quintet, containing one of the AAMC leaders in trombonist George Lewis and Asian Improv label owner tenor Francis Wong. Both pieces are much freer, than those recorded by the trio, with a lot of trombone improvisation and screaming sax soloing.

George Lewis is an American composer, musicologist, and trombonist. He is the Edwin H. Case Professor of American Music and Area Chair in Composition at Columbia University.
24 de may. de 2021 · Since releasing his 1995 debut album Memorophilia, on San Francisco-based AsianImprov, Iyer has emerged as an era-defining jazz artist. He’s earned numerous commissions and awards, including a 2013 MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship and the Alpert Award in the Arts.
