Mihály Zichy (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈmihaːj ˈzit͡ʃi]; German: Michael von Zichy; 15 October 1827 – 28 February 1906) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist. He is considered a notable representative of Hungarian romantic painting. He lived and worked primarily in St. Petersburg and Paris during his career.
Mihály Zichy (October 15 1827 in Zala, Hungary; February 28 1906 in St. Petersburg) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist, best remembered today for the erotic pencil drawings in his X portfolio. He is not to be confused with his nephew Count Theodore Zichy.
Zichy ist einer der bedeutendsten Künstler der ungarischen Romantik. Er wirkte auch als Grafiker und schuf neben erotischen Darstellungen Illustrationen zu Werken ungarischer Schriftsteller, wie dem dramatischen Gedicht Die Tragödie des Menschen von Imre Madách (1887) oder den Balladen von János Arany (1894–98).
Mihály Zichy est un représentant important de la peinture romantique hongroise. Pendant ses études de droit à Pest , il fréquente en 1842 l'école de Jakab Marastoni (hu) . À Vienne , il est l'élève de Waldmüller en 1844.
