Alphonso Michael Espy (born November 30, 1953) is an American lawyer and politician who served as the 25th United States secretary of agriculture from 1993 to 1994. He was both the first African American and the first person from the Deep South to hold the position.

24 de sept. de 2020 · U.S. senate candidate Mike Espy. Mike Espy, age 66, is vying to be the first African American elected by popular vote to the U.S. Senate from Mississippi. In 1986, Espy, a Democrat, became the first Black Mississippian elected to the U.S. House since Reconstruction.
