Louis-Alexandre Berthier (20 November 1753 – 1 June 1815), Prince of Neuchâtel and Valangin, Prince of Wagram, was a French military commander who served during the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. He was twice Minister of War of France and was made a Marshal of the Empire in 1804.

Napoléon Alexandre Louis Joseph Berthier, 2nd Prince of Wagram (11 September 1810, Paris – 10 February 1887, Paris) was a French politician and nobleman. He was the son of Louis-Alexandre Berthier , 1st Prince of Wagram, and Duchess Maria Elisabeth in Bavaria (and by his mother, grandnephew of King Maximilian I of Bavaria ).
Né à l’Hôtel de la guerre de Versailles le 20 novembre 1753, il est le « fils naturel et légitime de Jean-Baptiste Berthier, lieutenant réformé au régiment royal comtois, ingénieur ordinaire des camps et armées du roi et de dame Marie-Françoise l’Huillier de la Serre ».
Louis-Alexandre Berthier, prince de Wagram (born Nov. 20, 1753, Versailles, Fr.—died June 1, 1815, Bamberg, Bavaria) French soldier and the first of Napoleon’s marshals. Though Berthier was not a distinguished commander, Napoleon esteemed him highly as chief of staff of the Grande Armée from 1805.
