Louis-Gabriel Suchet, duc d' Albuféra (2 March 1770 – 3 January 1826), was a French Marshal of the Empire and one of the most successful commanders of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He is regarded as one of the greatest generals of the Napoleonic Wars.

Born into a wealthy silk-making family, Suchet had a remarkably successful military career, particularly in Spain. Like Miollis, he was briefly governor of a department in French Italy, in this case Padouan or il Padovano (the area around Padua).

Confronté à la guérilla espagnole (forme de guerre que Napoléon méprisait et à laquelle il ne s'intéressa jamais), le maréchal Suchet fut peut-être le seul des maréchaux à comprendre qu'il y fallait une réponse de nature politique aussi bien que militaire.
