Werdegang als Musiker. Weckl studierte am Berklee College of Music in Boston/Massachusetts. Nachdem er bereits mit Anfang 20 diverse Studio- und Livejobs gespielt hatte (unter anderem die Simon & Garfunkel-Tournee 1982), wurde die Jazzwelt Mitte der 1980er Jahre auf ihn aufmerksam – vor allem aufgrund seiner Arbeit mit Chick Corea und dessen Elektric- sowie Akoustic-Band.

The exposure he was enjoying with Chick Corea’s Akoustic and Elektric bands had made him one of the most respected and in-demand players in jazz.
It is based on solid knowledge and respect for music. Dave was born in St. Louis Missouri on January 8, 1960 to a loving mother and a father who enjoyed playing the piano. He began drumming at the age of eight. Dave was awarded many NAJE awards for his outstanding performances in the high school’s jazz band competition.

Mając 8 lat, Dave zaczął grać na perkusji. Mając 19 lat, grał już wiele koncertów w nowojorskich klubach ze swoim pierwszym zespołem Nite Sprite.
