You seem to have missed an earlier Day of The Dead remake, ... the one starring Mena Suvari and Ving Rhames.... and the SyFy TV series. Unlike the 1985 film, both of the above seemed to take place at the beginning of the outbreak.

Okay, so Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Day of the Dead (1985), and Land of the Dead (2005) make up the original continuity.
