Chicago-born Norman Taurog was performing on stage from his early childhood, long before he began work as a child actor in movies. He entered films at age 14 with Thomas Ince's studios, and turned to directing comedy in 1919 with Larry Semon.
Norman Rae Taurog was an American film director and screenwriter. Between 1920 and 1968, Taurog directed over 140 films, and directed Elvis Presley in more movies than any other director. He won the 1931 Academy Award for Best Director for the film Skippy and still holds the record as the youngest director to win it.
