North Country School is located in the heart of the six-million acre Adirondack Park, of which two million acres are forest preserve. Our 220-acre campus includes extensive vegetable and flower gardens, a working farm, a maple sugaring operation, a six-trail ski hill, a thirty-six-route rock climbing crag, two riding rings, and over 3 miles of recreational trails.
North Country School gives children a humanistic education rooted in respect and responsibility for self and others. Central to our academic program is a hands-on, place-based approach founded on the progressive tradition of John Dewey. Travel to North Country School. From New York and New Jersey, through Albany: North Country School is two hours north of Albany. From Albany, take I-87 north to Exit 30 (Route 73, Keene Valley, Keene). At the end of the exit ramp turn left, taking Routes 9 and 73 west toward Keene and Lake Placid. In 2 miles, bear left to stay on Route 73.
