Filmmaking and Media Arts. Whether you're assigned a project in class or choose to create on your own time, self-supported student groups and department-funded grants provide pathways for students to write, shoot, direct, edit, and market their own films, television and web series, sketch and improv shows, and digital media projects.
The University application and admissions process is centrally managed by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Detailed application instructions can be found on its website. Students interested in one of the six (6) School of Communication undergraduate majors would indicate their preference as a part of the application process.
The School of Communication's partnership with Chicago-based media company iHeart Media gives students hands-on media industry experience through paid summer internships. Students in this program, which was piloted in summer 2023, worked closely with professionals who trained and encouraged them in their craft.
