The Obotrites ( Latin: Obotriti, Abodritorum, Abodritos…) or Obodrites, also spelled Abodrites ( German: Abodriten ), were a confederation of medieval West Slavic tribes within the territory of modern Mecklenburg and Holstein in northern Germany (see Polabian Slavs ). [1]
