Oliver Goldsmith (Pallasmore, actual Irlanda, 1728 - Londres, 1774) Escritor irlandés. Hijo de un clérigo, Oliver Goldsmith se educó en Dublín y más tarde se trasladó a Edimburgo para estudiar medicina. En 1756 se instaló en Londres tras un largo viaje por la Europa continental, y colaboró en distintas publicaciones.
Oliver Goldsmith (10 November 1728 – 4 April 1774) was a well-known Anglo-Irish novelist, playwright, dramatist and poet, noted for his novel The Vicar of Wakefield (1766), his pastoral poem The Deserted Village (1770), and his plays The Good-Natur'd Man (1768) and She Stoops to Conquer (1771, first performed in 1773).
