Originals is an album featuring Prince’s previously unreleased (demo) versions of songs he wrote between 1981 and 1985 (plus one outlier from 1991) for his side projects and/or donated to protégées and other artists. The theme of this album was sparked by the discovery of his demo of "Nothing Compares 2 U", released one year before.

In fact, "Jungle Love" was largely unchanged when the Time took it to the Billboard Top 20 in 1984 – right down to a "somebody bring me a mirror" ad lib that Day brazenly claimed as his own.
