Pär Fabian Lagerkvist (23 May 1891 – 11 July 1974) was a Swedish author who received the 1951 Nobel Prize in Literature. Lagerkvist wrote poetry, plays, novels, short stories, and essays of considerable expressive power and influence [citation needed] from his early 20s to his late 70s.

Escritor, poeta, ensayista y dramaturgo sueco, Pär Lagerkvist fue uno de los grandes autores teatrales de su país, miembro de la Academia Sueca y nombrado Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1952. Lagerkvist estudió en Uppsala y París, viviendo la I Guerra Mundial en Dinamarca.
Pär Lagerkvist (1891-1974), son of station master Anders Johan Lagerkvist and Johanna Blad, was born in the south of Sweden. He decided early that he was going to be a writer and, after a year at the University of Uppsala, he left for Paris (1913), where he came under the influence of expressionism, especially in painting.
Personaje muy influyente en la poesía de su país, fue elegido en 1940 miembro de la Academia Sueca y recibió el Premio Nobel de Literatura de 1951. Entre su obra destacan: Angustia (1916) y Cantos del corazón (1926). Dentro de sus creaciones teatrales aparece El secreto del cielo (1919).
