Wendkos' first film was "The Burglar," an off-beat film noir which has generated some cult interest, partly thanks to an atypically restrained performance by Jayne Mansfield.

And James Darren not only reprises his role as Moondoggie, but he also evokes Dean Martin on the film’s theme, “Gegetta,” which is a reference to how Italians would translate “Gidget.”
