9 de ene. de 2012 · Peacock Military Academy, in San Antonio, also known as Peacock School for Boys, Peacock Military School, and Peacock Military College, was established in 1894 by Wesley Peacock. The institution was one of the first private preparatory boarding and day schools in Texas for boys between twelve and eighteen years of age.

One hundred and twenty nine years ago, a school for boys opened up on San Antonio’s West Side. Throughout that time, it educated and housed 15,000 boys. The school closed 50 years ago, but the memories it provided to its alumni are still vivid.

In 1930 Peacock opened a north Texas branch of the school at this site to provide military, academic, and physical education for young men in the first grade through junior college. Although the Dallas branch of the Peacock Military Academy went bankrupt and closed in 1934, its central administration building has been used as an educational facility since 1938.
After graduation in 1915, the newly commissioned lieutenant received orders to report to Fort Sam Houston. During the fall of that year, Eisenhower was approached by Peacock Military Academy to coach its football team. The school offered him $150 for the season, a tidy sum considering a lieutenant's pay.
