Hace 2 días · Pedro II was the last Emperor of Brazil after the Proclamation of the Republic of Brazil in 1889. Isabel of Braganza, Princess Imperial of Brazil signed the Lei Áurea in 1888, abolishing slavery in Brazil. Pedro I's successor in Brazil was his five-year-old son, Pedro II. As the latter was still a minor, a weak regency was created.
