Peter Rivera is the original voice and beat of Rare Earth, a very hip band of musicians that played an incredible mix of music comprised of rock, funk, soul, and psychedelic fusion. Rivera (stage name) aka Peter Hoorelbeke was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.
The main personnel in the group were Gil Bridges, saxophone, flute, vocals; Peter Hoorelbeke (aka Peter Rivera), lead vocals, drums; John Parrish (aka John Persh), bass guitar, trombone, vocals; Rod Richards (born Rod Cox), guitar, vocals; and Kenny James (born Ken Folcik), keyboards.

11 de nov. de 2017 · We had the honour to talk with a great musician: Peter Hoorelbeke aka Peter Rivera. He is best known as the original drummer and lead vocalist of Rare Earth, the first successful white band of Motown. They had three groundbreaking hit singles: “Get Ready”, “ (I Know) I’m Losing You” and “I Just Want to Celebrate”.
Besides Bridges who played sax, flute and vocals, the initial lineup was Peter Hoorelbeke (aka Peter Rivera) on lead vocals and drums, John Parrish (aka John Persh) on bass guitar, trombone and vocals, Rod Richards (guitar and vocals) and Kenny James on keyboards.
