August 1994 durch einen Staatsvertrag zwischen den Ländern Berlin und Brandenburg gegründet. Ihre Aufgabe ist die Bewahrung und Pflege der Schlösser und Gärten des ehemaligen Landes Preußen.

Colonial practises and structures can be traced throughout earlier centuries, before German colonialism of the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as afterwards.
