Less than four months after the deaths of his maternal aunt, Alice, Grand Duchess of Hesse and cousin, May, Waldemar became seriously ill with diphtheria and died in Berlin, Germany on 27 March 1879. He was buried in the royal mausoleum attached to the Friedenskirche at Potsdam, near the main altar and his elder brother Prince Sigismund of Prussia.
Prince Waldemar of Prussia (1817-1849) [] visited Nepal between 5 February to mid of March 1845. His diary was published in 1853 in Germany. His travel account consisted of description, drawings and maps and thus is considered significant to understand the society of that period.

Wilhelm, German Crown Prince, Crown Prince of Prussia (Friedrich Wilhelm Victor August Ernst; 6 May 1882 – 20 July 1951) was the eldest child of the last Kaiser, Wilhelm II, German Emperor, and his consort Augusta Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein, and thus a great-grandson of Queen Victoria, and distant cousin to many British royals, such as Queen Elizabeth II.

He was a grandson of William I of Prussia and Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom . Prince Sigismund was born at the New Palace in Potsdam, Germany, in 1864 and known as "Sigi" to his family. He died from meningitis at the New Palace on 18 June 1866, aged twenty-one months. He was buried in the royal mausoleum of the Friedenskirche at Potsdam.
