  1. Wilhelm Karl was the youngest of the four children of the emperor's son Prince Oskar von Prussia (1888–1958) and his wife Ina Marie, née Countess von Bassewitz-Levetzow (1888–1973). The National Socialists had denied him a planned law degree. He served in the Wehrmacht as a first lieutenant in the reserve.
