Joan of England (19 December 1333 or 28 January 1334 – 2 September 1348) was a daughter of Edward III and his wife, Philippa of Hainault. She died in the Black Death that struck Europe in 1348. [1] [2] Life. Joan, also known as Joanna, was born in the Tower of London. [3] .

Princess Joan, however, would be the first person to die from the Black Death in this town some months later. Perhaps she had already contracted the disease when she arrived in the town, or perhaps one of her entourage already had. Joan died on the 2nd of September 1348.

On the 30th April 1290 Joan was married to Gilbert de Clare, 3rd Earl of Gloucester in Westminster Abbey. Burial. She died on 23rd April 1307 and was buried at Clare Priory in Suffolk.
