Princess Philippine of Brandenburg-Schwedt (10 October 1745 – 1 May 1800); married Frederick II, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel. Prince Georg Philipp Wilhelm of Brandenburg-Schwedt (3 May 1749 – 13 August 1751) Frederick William was 19 years older than the princess and he was called the "mad Margrave" because of his pranks and rude manners.
Charlotte was an elder sister of Charles William, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen and George I, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen. Marriage [ edit ] Charlotte married Ernest, Hereditary Prince of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (later Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg), son of Frederick III, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and his wife Luise Dorothea of Saxe-Meiningen , on 21 March 1769 in Meiningen .
In 1790 he met the love of his life, the famous actress Dorothea Jordan and lived with her for the next 20 years, fathering ten children. Dorothea was cruelly abandoned with a pay-off so that William was free to marry Princess Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen in 1818, 20 years his junior.
