  6. Prussian statesman and businessman Ludolf Camphausen was a leading merchant in Cologne. He headed the liberal ministry appointed by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia after the revolutionary outburst of March 1848. He was forced to resign in June when the Prussian assembly became more liberal and the king more conservative.
