Gemma Frisius ( / ˈfrɪziəs /; born Jemme Reinerszoon; [1] December 9, 1508 – May 25, 1555) was a Dutch physician, mathematician, cartographer, philosopher, and instrument maker. He created important globes, improved the mathematical instruments of his day and applied mathematics in new ways to surveying and navigation.

Médico, matemático, astrónomo e instrumentista holandés, llamado Frisius (el Frisón), nacido en Dokkum, Holanda, el 8 de diciembre de 1508 y muerto en Lovaina, Bélgica, el 25 de mayo de 1555. Estudió medicina en Lovaina, ciudad donde ejerció su profesión y en cuya Facultad de medicina fue profesor.
