Though one of the "Supermen" (Steel), does not claim to be Superman and is simply a good-hearted man inspired by Superman, the other three have mixed and/or questionable motives. The story is an interesting look at how the public yearns for someone to take Superman's place, and how that yearning can lead to dangerously misplacing trust in the hands of the wrong person.
