Judge Wesley is deeply connected to the State of New York. He has played a public role in the State – in either a legislative or judicial capacity – since 1979, was educated by New York institutions, and has an abiding interest in the State’s history, economics, and politics.

Biography. Richard C. Wesley received his Juris Doctor degree from Cornell University Law School where he served as editor of the Cornell Law Review. He was admitted to practice in 1971 and practiced law in Geneseo, becoming a partner in the law firm of Streb, Porter, Meyer and Wesley.
Richard C. Wesley, “RSP,” as she was known to her judicial colleagues, “was the one. RSP loved the exchange of views and while she was not shy in expressing her take on a case, she was a master of the art of principled compromise. She was the dearest of friends.” Former Chief Judge Dennis Jacobs echoed Judge Wesley’s remarks.
Richard C. Wesley is a federal judge on senior status with the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. He first joined the Court in 2003 after being nominated by President George W. Bush, and he assumed senior status on August 1, 2016.
