26/12/2019 · Richard FitzGilbert de Clare. 1st Earl of Hertford (1094–15 April 1136) was the son of Gilbert Fitz Richard de Clare and Alice de Claremont also known as Adeliza de Claremont. He founded the priory of Tonbridge. Richard held the Lordship of Ceredigion in Wales.
Richard fitz Gilbert (before 1035–c. 1090), 1st feudal baron of Clare in Suffolk, was a Norman lord who participated in the Norman conquest of England in 1066, and was styled "de Bienfaite", "de Clare", and of "Tonbridge" from his holdings.

Henry's fourth son was Richard le Scrope (c. 1350 – 1405), Archbishop of York, who took part with the Percys in opposition to Henry IV, and was beheaded for treason in June 1405. Despite this, Henry Scrope, 3rd Baron Scrope of Masham (c. 1376 – 1415), became a favourite of Henry V , by whom he was made treasurer in 1410 and employed on diplomatic missions abroad.
